Botox

Botox (Botulinum Toxin) is a procedure used for the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles.  You can have your face look more youthful without any downtime.

Botox has been used for other medical conditions for more than a decade and is a safe and effective way of treating aging skin.  It is used to eliminate or reduce worry and frown lines, "crow's feet", laugh lines and other wrinkles.  It is a simple non-surgical procedure that can drastically reduce even the toughest wrinkles.  The procedure works by physiologically weakening the facial muscles beneath the skin that are related to expression lines.  The contractions of those muscles result in wrinkles.  Botox works by blocking the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles therefore relaxing them.  This procedure will smooth the appearance of wrinkles and the benefits will last from three to six months.  The pain associated with the procedure is minimal.

It is recommended to avoid alcoholic beverages, anti-inflammatory medications, vitamin E and aspirin one week prior to and one week after the treatment.

It is possible to experience some mild side effects such as headaches or flu like symptoms following the procedure.  The practitioner may suggest acetaminophen if this should occur.  It is also recommended that the client not lie down for three to four hours following the treatment.  Some facial exercises may be recommended.  The treatment takes three to eight days to take effect.  Unlike surgery, Botox is fast, simple, and minimally invasive with no down time or recovery.
