Anger
Anger is a completely
normal human emotion that turns destructive when it gets out of
control. Anger is an emotional state that varies from mild
irritation to intense fury and rage. It can be caused by both
external and internal events. When anger gets out of control it
causes problems in your personal relationships, the workplace, and in
the quality of your life.
Some people get angry more easily and more intensely than others.
These people can express their anger in loud ways or express it by
being chronically irritable, grumpy, socially withdrawn, or getting
physically ill.
Expressing your anger in an assertive manner is healthy. If anger
is not allowed an outward expression it can turn inward on you causing
hypertension, high blood pressure, or depression.
It is best to find out what triggers your anger and then develop
strategies to recognize those triggers and manage your anger. You
cannot get rid of or avoid the things or the people that enrage you,
but you can learn to control your reactions. If you feel that
your anger is out of control, having an impact on your relationships
and on important parts of your life, Health and Wellness Group can help
you learn how to handle it better.
